Bolles teacher goes back to school

Mark Hoey, a longtime Bolles mathematics teacher and golf/lacrosse coach, went to summer school at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. He took an innovative course called “The Mark_HoeyFuture of Learning,” a three-day class that explored a wide range of topics, including how “societal changes and technological advancements in the early 21st century affect educational practice and the way students learn,” according to the course description. Hoey hopes to integrate them into his own teaching curriculum at The Bolles School.
“This will allow me to get ideas and enable me to readily adapt to the ever-changing student in today’s society,” Hoey said. “After teaching for 19 years, it is important to accept the changing child and to be a more universal educator.”
