Breakfast in Memorial Park May 26

The Memorial Park Association will host a free community breakfast in the park on Monday, May 26, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I, the Navy’s Color Guard will open the event with a brief formal ceremony and keynote speaker, Dr. Wayne Wood, will talk about the history of the park, which was dedicated on Dec. 25, 1924, and the significance of the sculpture “Life” designed by renowned artist C. Adrian Pillars.

“Memorial Park is in its 90th year, having been enjoyed by four generations of families.  As an Association it’s our goal to continue this legacy for generations to come. This event presents an opportunity for our entire community to celebrate the glorious surroundings of this 6-acre riverfront park,” said Pattie Houlihan, President for the Board of Directors of the Association.

Guests are encouraged to stay for a game of Ultimate Frisbee, following breakfast, which will be supplied by local merchants.
