Riverside restaurant patrons, staff robbed at gunpoint

An armed robber held up Pattaya Thai Grille restaurant at gunpoint Thursday night, Oct. 29, at about 8: 25 p.m. The suspect got away with some money and took off down Herschel Street, witnesses told investigators.

A young, black male wearing dark clothing,  a light baseball cap and a small backpack walked into the Riverside restaurant at King and Herschel streets, pointing a gun at employees and customers and demanding cash, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. He took the large tip jar from the counter and took wallets from two customers standing near the counter. He then fled down Herschel Street.

The armed robbery happened just blocks away from The Blind Rabbit, where employee Daniel Rowe was murdered July 22. First Coast Crime Stoppers announced earlier in the week an anonymous local business owner added $10,000 to the $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the Rowe case.

Anyone who has any information in regards to the location or identity of the unknown Pattaya Thai Grille robbery suspect is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-0500 or email [email protected]. To remain anonymous and receive a possible reward up to $3,000 contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
