Black & White Ball raises funds for those in financial crisis

Teal and gold fittingly provided the splash of color for Catholic Charities’ 26th Annual Black & White Ball, held March 3 in the U.S. Assure Club at EverBank Field, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The event serves as one of the primary fundraisers for Catholic Charities Jacksonville Regional Office of the Diocese of St. Augustine, with proceeds assisting the agency in reaching out to the community with emergency assistance.

The Faze Band provided music for an evening that featured gourmet food, dancing and a Jewelry Pull, offered by Kendra Scott Jewelry.

The Emergency Assistance program helps prevent homelessness by assisting families who are facing eviction or the loss of utilities due to a recent financial crisis. Short-term assistance with rent, mortgage payments, utilities, and food is provided. All proceeds raised by the Black & White Ball will support those efforts.

Last year, the Emergency Assistance program served 13,459 individuals, and distributed 135,951 pounds of food to those in need in the community. Over the past 25 years, the Ball has raised more than $2.9 million for Catholic Charities’ Emergency Assistance Program.
