Florida Theatre evokes Studio 54 nightclubbing at annual gala

The Florida Theatre’s annual major fundraiser paid homage to the nightclubbing and disco music era of the Seventies, drawing hundreds to the benefit — called the event of the year by Numa Saisselin, president of the Florida Theatre Performing Arts Center. The May 19 benefit opened with a jazz funk trio playing during the cocktail hour. After dinner, guests enjoyed a tribute concert to Donna Summer, Barry Manilow and Elton John, then the curtain rose for disco dancing to the tunes of the Boogie Freaks.
