World of Nations Celebration: Exploring the world from your backyard
World of Nations Celebration

With the 2020 Census coming up in just a few months, a perfect opportunity arises to evaluate how much diversity can be found in our city and to explore the diverse international communities residing in neighborhoods like Riverside, Avondale and Murray Hill as well as the historic communities of San Marco, St. Nicholas and San Jose. It’s important to recognize this cultural diversity and provide opportunities to learn about our neighbors’ countries and cultures.

The City’s annual World of Nations Celebration does just that. It provides guests with the opportunity to experience cuisine, artistry, and customs from lands near and far – in the comfort of our own city, provided by our own residents. Dozens of booths feature arts, crafts and authentic foods from various world nations.

This year, the celebration will feature over 30 countries and their local representatives – all Jacksonville residents. While exploring sights, sounds and tastes from these nations, attendees are encouraged to showcase their own heritage and culture by dressing up in folk attire. The festival is taking place this weekend, Saturday, Feb. 29 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 1 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and it’s a rain or shine event. Admission is $5 per person, but children 3 years-of-age and younger are free. For tickets, please visit JaxWorldofNations.com or be ready to purchase at the gate.
