Bolles robotics teams excel at regionals
Several teams represented Bolles at the North Florida Regional FIRST LEGO League Championship Feb. 29.

Four Bolles robotics teams from all three Bolles campuses enjoyed continued success at the North Florida Regional FIRST LEGO League Championship, held Feb. 29 at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

The students competed for more than 12 hours and brought home several awards with some teams invited to participate in the state and global competitions:

Bolles the Builders, one of the FLL Bolles Middle School Bartram Campus teams, took home first place in programming and captured a bid to compete in the State Championship.

Bolles Arc-E-Techs, the other FLL Bartram team, also won a bid to the state competition.

Team Gigaflops, a FLL team on the Bolles Lower School Whitehurst Campus, placed second in robot design and will advance to the state championship.

The “FBI,” or Future Bolles Innovators, one of the FLL teams on the Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus, placed first in research and took home the prestigious Global Innovation Award. FBI has a chance to win $20,000 to make their project become a reality in St. Johns County.

The Bolles RoboPups, the FLL Junior team on the Whitehurst Campus, won the Cooperative Programming Award.

Thanks to the glowing commendations of our two Bartram teams, middle school Coach Gabi Fudge won the “Coach of the Year” award of Northeast Florida.

Bolles robotics teachers include Carolyn Houston, Angela James, Andrew Nation, Stacey Posick, Maggie Vance and Beth Zerkowski.
