The Downtown Development Review Board has given its approval to a new  340-unit multi-family apartment complex on the Southbank.

The project called Artea is being developed by Corner Lot Development on land owned by JTA, which hopes it will be the first of several transportation hub developments.

The complex will be on 3.87 acres of land near WJXT next to the Rivers Edge development. It will include a 425-space parking garage and a rooftop lounge for residents.

JTA is leasing the land to Corner Lot under a 99 year lease deal.

The complex will have direct access to the Kings Avenue Transit Hub and Skyway station.

“We are excited and humbled for the opportunity to partner with the JTA, to make this vision a reality, and to do our part to help the city of Jacksonville and the Southbank reach its potential as a dynamic place to live,” said Scott Hobby, co-owner of Corner Lot Living.

JTA discussed such projects last month during its State of the Utility presentation.

JTA Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel Ford said he hopes it will lead to more development and improvements in downtown Jacksonville.

“This Transit-Oriented Development builds on the momentum Downtown Jacksonville is experiencing by adding hundreds of premium apartments to the Southbank,” he said. “Corner Lot Living’s reputation and dedication to this community made them the perfect partners to realize this vision, and to bring more critical density to what has been a dormant property for many years.”
