Taylor Richardson in The Outsiders? “Do I Do or Do I Die?”, Season 1, Episode 4

Taylor Richardson, also known as Astronaut Starbright, is a teenage speaker and philanthropist, a Bolles student set to graduate in 2022 who aspires to someday visit Mars. In the meantime, she’s visiting movie sets and magazine pages.

Richardson is considered a global game-changer who is shifting culture. She was selected as one of the 40 extraordinary individuals under age 40 to appear in a YouTube Original documentary called The Outsiders? by Simon Frederick, the director of Black Hollywood: They’ve Got to Have Us and Black Is the New Black.

The film, released in early October, is an exclusive six-part series that features the brightest Black talents from around the globe, including recording artists, performers, publishing directors, and other visionaries who are shaping the future. Each episode discusses a different aspect of race, poses questions, explores experiences, and draws attention to the light and dark sides of being extraordinary.

“I didn’t plan for Astronaut Starbright to blow up. I just wanted to make a difference in my community,” Richardson says in the documentary. She also talks about her invitation to the White House, her desire to raise money, and the support she received from Oprah Winfrey.

Richardson was also featured in a national magazine recently: People, in honor of International Day of the Girl celebrated on October 11. People chose Richardson as one of their Girls Changing the World in 2021. They found her to be one of the “young innovators and trailblazers making a difference in their communities and beyond.”

Latonja Richardson said of her daughter Taylor, “She is making her mark in the world and Jacksonville!”
