Yachting traditions celebrated at Change of Command
Club members, friends, family and the Fleet leadership at the Epping Forest Yacht and Country Club took time to celebrate the passing of the torch, rather, the lowering and raising of the flags to honor the officers who have graciously served the club. The annual Change of Command relieved Annie Tutt as the 25th Commodore and installed H. Phil Littlefield, as the 26th Commodore of the club.
This year, on May 20, the club marked its 34th annual ceremonial Change of Command, with H. Phil Littlefield embarking on his journey to lead the club through the next year. Littlefield, a founding member of the club, feels a special pride as he kicks off his tenure at the helm.
“I am pleased to follow the legacy of past Commodores and will work to maintain their high level of integrity,” he shared. “To the past members of the Board, it has been my pleasure working with you, and to the new current board, I look forward to this next year and all of the opportunities it will bring.”
Other Flag officers installed were Vice Commodore, Jody Brandenburg, Sr. Fleet Captain Allen Jones, and Rear Commodore, Ryan Rafferty. Festivities were held indoors this year, due to inclement weather. Despite the damper, the evening was enjoyed by attendees and a celebratory dinner ensued following the ceremony.
