The Great McGala a hit for Ronald McDonald House
The Sawgrass Marriott Resort in Ponte Vedra Beach was transformed into the celebratory event of the season as the The Great McGala took place May 3. The event helps to share the success stories and the role Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville has played for all of its 25 years, helping children and families who are dealing with life threatening illnesses and injuries. The ultimate goal is to provide families and loved ones the opportunity to relax, unwind and remain calm in the face of great difficulty.
During the many years of service children and their families, fundraising goals have helped to provide the ‘home away from home’ setting, as generous donors and patrons have helped to make all things possible. Through unwavering support and community outreach, the humble beginnings on Jefferson Street in 1988 are a distant memory as the organization now boasts a 30-bedroom house at the current location on Children’s Way, in the San Marco neighborhood. The mission has remained strong, illustrated by the increase in amenities, such as the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Wolfson Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald CareMobile in conjunction with St. Vincent’s Hospital, to name a few.
