Kings Trail students harvest their tasty bounty
Nine weeks after its planting ceremony for the Kings Trail Elementary School Teaching Garden program, students from the second and fifth grades enjoyed the fruits – or, rather the vegetables – of their labors. The young gardeners harvested the plants and learned how to create salsa, pesto and salad using those ingredients, plus a few from a local grocer. The real-life laboratory is part of the American Heart Association’s local effort to reduce deaths from cardiovascular disease. Danis Construction was also a partner in the hands-on learning experience.
