Great Cities Symposium @ Jacksonville Main Library
Apr 4 @ 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM

Joseph Riley served as mayor of Charleston, South Carolina, for four decades. During that period he transfromed the city from a sleepy, coastal backwater into an international tourist destination, a major economic engine for the region, and a center for global trade.

City Beautiful Jacksonville is bringing Mayor Riley to Jacksonville to share his wisdom and experience about making cities attractive, livable, and thriving.

For $25 ( plus $3.16 in fees) participants will enjoy lunch and a talk by Mayor Riley about his remarkable success in Charleston.

Following Joe Riley’s talk, at 1:30, we will have a panel discussion on three topics central to making Jacksonville’s downtown successful:

  • Fragmented downtown planning,
  • Sea level rise and flooding, and
  • Transportation.

The April 4th event will take place at the Main Library’s Conference Center, which can also be accessed from the facility’s Main Street entrance.
