This program is for children birth to 5 years with an adult caregiver. The program includes stories, books, fingerplays, nursery rhymes, and songs that promote language development, vocabulary building, and comprehension.

Beginning Thursday, January 10th, join us every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:30 a.m. for a fast-paced 30-minute walk in downtown Jacksonville, led by Friends of Hemming Park staff. We will meet near the “Opposing Forces” sculpture in Hemming Park at the corner of  Monroe and Laura Streets. Our route will change daily, and we will visit a variety of Jacksonville landmarks during this fun, free, twice-weekly event. For more information, email [email protected]

Pastel Drawing Class @ Murray Hill Art Class

This is an ongoing class that meets every Friday for all artists levels. The class will focus on pastels, materials and techniques.

Students will work from a live model and still life setups on a rotating basis using various types of soft pastels and supports. Check our website for the recommended supply list.

WASABICON POP CULTURE EVENT @ Lexington Hotel & Conference Center

WasabiCon® is Jacksonville’s annual celebration of pop culture for fans of cosplay, video games, anime, comics, sci-fi, tabletop gaming, and everything fandom has to offer. Started in 2012, this family-friendly event is open to all ages and features artists, vendors, celebrity guests, contests, and hours of programming for everyone from casual superhero fans to dedicated Trekkies and Otaku. This year’s theme for WasabiCon is #FindYourFandom. Attendees will be encouraged not only to come out and celebrate their favorite aspects of pop culture, but to discover other genres that exist, too. With easy access to a diverse landscape of fandom, WasabiCon 2019 will offer a multitude of panels, programming, performances, and other interactive opportunities from almost every fandom imaginable.
