This economy is hurting folks. We’re going to share food.

The recent closure of bars and restaurant dining rooms has left many service industry professionals without work. Joining the ranks of those in the community reaching out to offer support to those individuals, Riverside Park United Methodist Church will be providing free Wednesday night meals starting tonight for anyone in need.
“If any of your un/underemployed servers or bartenders or baristas need a free meal, send them our way around 5:30pm,” Pastor Emily Knight wrote in an email to community partners.
The church isn’t sure how many meals to prepare, so they have asked people to call ahead if they would like one. Tonight’s meal service will help Riverside Park UMC determine what the need is and where it can be most helpful. Thanks to financial support from Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, the church plans to continue these meals for as long as they are able and the meals are needed.
“I am open to other ideas for ways we can band together and serve our community,” said Pastor Emily. “We can probably do more if we work together.”
