20 Really Good People

From the moment Resident Community News Group began publishing, Debra McGregor has been a steady, loyal presence who has helped shape the newspaper’s foundation. She arrived on day one ready to work, ready to serve the community and ready to support the people who would come to rely on our publications.

Over the years, as the newspaper grew and new ideas took shape, Debra grew with it. When the decision was made to launch Circles magazine with its ambitious Charity Register and Social Datebook, she stepped forward immediately. She understood the scale of the work and the importance of getting every detail right, and she embraced the responsibility without hesitation.

The Charity Register and Social Datebook are among the most trusted records of Jacksonville philanthropy. Creating them requires patience, precision and a sincere commitment to accuracy. Debra has shown that level of commitment year after year. She gathers information from hundreds of charities, foundations and nonprofit leaders, and she verifies every name, every date and every mission statement. The work is time-consuming, technical and often unseen by the public, yet it remains essential to preserving the history of our community.

McGregor approaches this task with a calm sense of purpose and a genuine desire to honor each organization she features.

McGregor’s dedication extends well beyond her editorial responsibilities. She provides exceptional service to clients and readers of both Circles and Resident News. She responds promptly to emails and calls, offers thoughtful assistance and treats every question or request with respect. Many advertisers and nonprofit partners have expressed gratitude for her steady professionalism and her willingness to go the extra mile. She listens, she helps and she cares deeply about the people behind the stories we publish.

Her work ethic is matched by her character. McGregor is a truly good person who values honesty, kindness and accountability. She ensures that every charity, every success story and every community event is represented with accuracy and dignity. Because of her efforts, countless organizations have seen their work preserved in print and shared with readers who care about the future of Jacksonville.

For these reasons, Debra McGregor stands out as one of our “20 Really Good People.” Her loyalty, tireless effort and unwavering heart for this community make her an invaluable part of our team and a deserving honoree in this year’s recognition.
