The City of Jacksonville has selected European Street Cafe – a neighborhood staple in the San Marco and Riverside communities – to operate the new cafe space at Riverfront Plaza, bringing a community mainstay to one of the City’s newest downtown riverfront parks.

In 1980, the Zarka family took over Mr. Dunderbak’s at Regency Square Mall and 10 years later, transformed it into the European Street Cafe. Since then, the neighborhood restaurant has been a mainstay of the communities it serves, hosting countless residents and visitors.

“Riverfront Plaza is being created as a place where Jacksonville comes together, and great public spaces deserve great local partners,” said Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan. “European Street Cafe has been part of Jacksonville’s story for decades, and we’re excited to welcome them to the riverfront as they help create a vibrant gathering place for residents and visitors alike. Their commitment to hospitality and community makes them an outstanding fit for this exciting new chapter in Downtown Jacksonville.”

More details to come in the upcoming issue of Resident News.
