Training means reassurance, confidence for consumers
For more than 60 years, Weather Engineers, Inc. has emphasized a commitment not just to its clients but to the technicians who are out in the field every day, providing top-of-the-line service day in and day out.
“We built our reputation by investing not only in the latest technology and equipment, but also in the people who serve our customers,” said Weather Engineers Vice President of Operations Danny Towers.
The company actively recruits students interested in building long-term careers in the skilled trades through several programs and partnerships, including the Builders Association of North Central Florida (BANCF) apprenticeship program in Gainesville, the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA) Apprenticeship program in Jacksonville and partnerships with Florida State College at Jacksonville.
But that commitment to training does not stop once someone joins the team at Weather Engineers. As the HVAC industry continues to evolve, training and education are top priorities for this family-owned company, and, as such, workforce development remains a primary focus in its company culture.
“As the industry continues to evolve, training and education have become more important than ever,” Towers said. “Everything we install and put in today is highly technical.”
Enter Weather University.
Weather University is an on-site training facility that offers both classroom and hands-on educational opportunities for Weather Engineers technicians, whether they’ve been with the company for one day or 20-plus years.
“I don’t know too many companies that have an in-house training facility built specifically for enhancing the workforce,” said Towers.

Through Weather University, technicians can continually hone their skills, evolving with the times as new techniques are developed, new technology is introduced, or new products come to market. Before any of that is placed in the home or office of a Weather Engineers client, it is first tested and studied by technicians.
“We’re not just selling a product to make money,” Towers said. “We want to make sure that the technology is something that we believe in…We want to make sure that the products that we’re installing and we’re selling to our homeowners and businesses are tried and true and tested by us, the industry experts.”
Through this hands-on learning experience, Weather Engineers technicians can understand the nuances of new equipment and/or technology and how to install it, ensuring a flawless in-home experience for Weather Engineers clients.
“As you see with reviews online, most of the poor reviews are poor installation,” Towers observed. “It’s not the equipment manufacturer, it’s the person who’s installing it, not knowing how to do it right. We try to make sure that we trust the product before we sell it to our consumer.”
Based in Jacksonville, Weather Engineers celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2023 and is just as committed to its community as it is to its people, clients and employees alike. The business actively supports multiple charitable causes throughout the year, Towers said, from major organizations like Hubbard House and the Donna Foundation to Little League teams coached by Weather Engineers technicians.
“We want to make sure that we give back to the community,” said Towers. “Our customers are the lifeblood of our business, and we want to make sure that we take care of the community as well.”
