Sulzbacher Village received a donation of more than 3,000 books, bookshelves and furnishings for the Children’s Library from Bold City (FL) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated. Each book has been labeled, categorized and placed on the shelf for homeless children to pick up their next adventure.
A ribbon-cutting event was held on Jan. 25 to celebrate the grand opening of the stocked library. Sulzbacher CEO and President Cindy Funkhouser, Sulzbacher board members, staff and clients were on hand to thank Bold City (FL) Chapter members.
Sulzbacher Village is a separate neighborhood away from the downtown core, where women, families and children live and access the services they need to put their lives back together. Women and children have been the fastest-growing segment of the homeless population for the last several years.
The Links, Incorporated, founded in 1946, is a women’s volunteer service organization committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the cultural and economic survival of African-Americans and other persons of African-American ancestry. The 25-year-old Bold City (FL) Chapter has nearly 40 members.
