Friends, families and neighbors came out to enjoy live music and a lovely evening at Fletcher Park for Concert in the Park.
Hosted Oct. 25 by San Marco Preservation Society, the free event attracted families to enjoy live music acts performing everything from acoustic guitar and live jazz to bluegrass and country. Performers included singer-songwriter Jesse Montoya, the John Lumpkin Institute and the Bread and Butter Band (bluegrass/swing/country). Refreshments were provided by a variety of food trucks.
SMPS Board President David Paulk estimated that the crowd topped the 400 who attended last year’s concert.

This year’s Concert in the Park was also the debut event for Sheri Webber, who was recently named the San Marco Preservation Society’s first executive director. Webber said she looks forward to executing a long vision for the organization.
“The thing about San Marco is that it’s in a new era right now,” Webber said. “I know that sounds cheesy but it’s so true because we’ve had just an influx of new residents.”
