The Friends of Hendricks’ 13th Annual Walkathon on Saturday, February 8, 2025, was a great success for Hendricks Avenue Elementary School! Hundreds of students, families, faculty, staff and community members enjoyed a fun-filled morning on the HAE track to raise money for teacher grants and to complete the second half of the shade structure over the basketball court, with a total goal of raising $50,000. “The Walkathon is such a fun event that brings our community together,” said Kaylee Hurwitz, volunteer co-chair of the event. “It is truly rewarding to see students, teachers, families and community stakeholders come together to support our amazing school.” The Walkathon also helps fund the school’s hallmark Leader in Me initiative, added co-chair Melissa Gregory. “Every year, the event gets better and better, more students, families and community businesses participate,” said Melissa. “This year, our HAE community walked over 750 miles to help us reach our fundraising goal!”
