As a New Year begins a new executive director will be at the helm of the City Rescue Mission.
Paul Stasi has been hired to take over the leadership role beginning Jan. 1. He takes over for Penny Kievet, who retired on Dec. 31, 2020.
Stasi has been with the mission for six years where he has previously served as director of Resource Development and as director of Social Enterprise. Prior to his time at the mission, he served as director of Social Services for the Northeast Florida Area Command with the Salvation Army.
“I am honored and energized by the opportunity to assume leadership of this great organization that plays such a vital role in our community by helping people in desperate situations go through a life transformation,” said Stasi. “City Rescue Mission has a robust future of continuing to reach out to some of Jacksonville’s most needy citizens, and I am excited to see how God will work through us.”
Kendall Spencer, board chairman of City Rescue Mission, said the nonprofit is fortunate to have such a qualified and experienced leader like Stasi become its new executive director. “As one of the mission’s current senior executives, Paul has worked diligently during the past six years to ensure the success of our numerous programs and services and the implementation of new ones,” he said. “We are all very excited and pleased that the City Rescue Mission is going to be led by Paul Stasi, who has first-hand awareness of the challenges and opportunities ahead of us.”
