10th annual Domestic Violence Awareness Walk, the Stand Up & Stride, raises almost $90,000

The 10th annual Domestic Violence Awareness Walk, the Stand Up & Stride, hosted by Hubbard House and presented by Bank of America, attracted more than 1,200 participants to raise almost $90,000 to support the emergency shelter and the programs and services Hubbard House provides to survivors of domestic violence.

At the event, Dr. Gail A. Patin, Hubbard House CEO, discussed how much the Domestic Violence Awareness Walk has grown in the last 10 years, creating thousands of passionate advocates for survivors. Patin ended her remarks by thanking those who have dedicated themselves to the movement saying, “You are saving and changing lives right here in our community.”

Participants in this year’s event include the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the State Attorney’s Office and local military, health professionals, corporate and community members from around Northeast Florida walking together to show unified support for Hubbard House and survivors.

Hubbard House has been providing life-changing and life-saving services to domestic violence survivors and their children for 43 years and is a full-service certified domestic violence shelter. Services Hubbard House offers include community outreach, group and individual support programs, prevention and intervention services in addition to emergency shelter and the 24/7 hotline. In 2018, Hubbard House answered 3,920 crisis calls and served 4,407 clients, including 446 children survivors.
