Legislation filed for regulation of short-term rentals

On behalf of District 14 Councilman Jim Love, the City of Jacksonville Office of General Counsel has filed Bill 2019-238 concerning legislation for the regulation and operation of short-term vacation rentals in the City of Jacksonville. Until further notice, the schedule for hearing the bill is:

Planning Commission Hearing May 9, 1 p.m.

City Council 1st Public Hearing, May 15, 5 p.m.

Land Use & Zoning Committee Public Hearing, May 21, 5 p.m.

City Council 2nd Public Hearing, May 28, 5 p.m. — and may include a final vote if the item is not deferred in LUZ.

The Council President, Aaron Bowman, may assign the bill to other committees as well for consideration, but the minimum required public hearings for an amendment to the Zoning Code (Chapter 656) are as listed above.  Please be aware that if you desire to have input on this legislation (link), you should attend as many of the hearings as possible.

City Council and Land Use & Zoning Committee hearing are held in City Hall, 117 W. Duval Street, in Council Chambers. Planning Commission meeting locations are also typically held in Council Chambers.
