School fair spotlights international community
Indian dancers at the Bolles World Cultures & Countries Fair

The 2020 World Cultures & Countries Fair at the Bolles School made for a colorful opportunity for students to experience life around the globe firsthand. 

Students representing nearly 30 cultures and countries put their international perspectives on exhibit through food, history, dance and demonstrations. Countries and cultures represented at the fair were: Black Student Union, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cuba, Czech Republic, France and French-speaking countries, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, Hawaiian culture, India, International Student Union, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Jewish culture, Lebanon, Mexico, Palestine, Philippines, South Korea, Spain and Spanish-speaking countries, Turkey, United Kingdom and Vietnam.

The students hosted their peers at country and culture tables set up around the perimeter of the school’s Davis Gym, while a center stage provided a forum for student dance and song exhibitions.

Students from the Bolles Lower School Whitehurst Campus were the first students to enjoy the event. Upper school peers representing several forms of Indian dance, La Ranchera folk singing of Mexico and Bulgarian dance shared lively performances for their younger friends and explained some of the historical and cultural relevance behind their demonstrations.

Upper school students arrived for the fun during activities period. Many were dressed in clothing that reflected their cultural heritage or international experiences. Bolles faculty, staff and students enjoyed sampling foods and conversation at the booths, which included cuisine from all over the world.
