Commodore’s League Celebrates Change of Command
There’s a group of conscientious civic leaders that play host to dignitaries – from sports figures to top military brass, CEO’s, and other potential investors – welcoming them with a unique nautical approach to showcasing the City of Jacksonville. By way of a chartered boat, great food, fuel and generous donations from group members, the nonprofit sets up cruises and outings on the waterways of the St. Johns River to help to generate investment and interest in Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville Commodore’s League has been dedicated to promoting the philanthropic and economic welfare of the City of Jacksonville since its official incorporation on Jan. 10, 1977. As it fast approaches its 50 Year Anniversary, the group holds strong and continues to celebrate an annual Change of Command ceremony. This year, the club welcomed members to Epping Forest Yacht and Country Club, a proper waterfront location for the maritime minded crowd.
The organization has hosted hundreds of cruises in its nearly 50-year history and has plans to continue the great tradition for 50 more years to come. This year, the leadership passed the torch from one set of committees to another, as roles for the organization shift during the ceremonies in fine yachting tradition.
