Pastel Drawing Class @ Murray Hill Art Class

This is an ongoing class that meets every Friday for all artists levels. The class will focus on pastels, materials and techniques.

Students will work from a live model and still life setups on a rotating basis using various types of soft pastels and supports. Check our website for the recommended supply list.

East of the Sun and West of the Moon: DA School Performance @ Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Black Box Theatre

Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Theatre Department presents their first show of the season with East of the Sun and West of the Moon, a Norwegian fairy tale based on the
original story of the same name by Peter Christian Asbjornsen and Jorgen Engebretsen
Moe. East of the Sun and West of the Moon is a tale of a poor girl who must make a
perilous journey to break the spell placed upon her beloved, a prince who has been
transformed into a polar bear. To bring this story to life, Strangemen Theatre (Company)
has been brought to DASOTA as an Artist-in-residence. The Company worked with the
DASOTA students to create an original take of the story complete with puppets, masks
and movement.

Tickets for all shows can be purchased prior to each show through the DASOTA
Theatre Boosters website or at the DASOTA Theatre Box Office one hour before show
begins, if tickets are still available. For more information about the theatre season and

New York City theatre troupe, Strangemen and Company, visited the theatre students at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in August to create an original stage play, complete with puppets, masks, life-size costumes and improvisational movement. The play, “East of the Sun, West of the Moon,” will run in the Douglas Anderson Blackbox Theatre on Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 11–13, and Wednesday through Saturday, Oct. 17–20. Tickets are available by calling the school, (904) 346-5620.

Music performed by these two giants of Western and American music include Bernstein’s Clarinet Sonata; Debussy’s Ariettes oubliees (Forgotten Melodies) for Tenor, plus solo music for piano.
