Allison DeFoor, president and CEO of North Florida Land Trust, has been named one of Florida’s most influential business leaders by Florida Trend.

As it does each year, Florida Trend selects 500 people for its “Florida 500” list. For the second year, DeFoor was listed among the top executives in the philanthropy/nonprofit category. The Florida 500 list features more than 60 business categories, including law, education, agriculture and real estate, among others.

DeFoor has been at the helm of NFLT since 2022, during which time NFLT has conserved roughly 13,000 acres. Once the State closes on a conservation easement this year, another 76,000 acres will be coming to the Ocala to Osceola (O2O) wildlife corridor as well.

“I am honored even to be nominated for this prestigious list and am greatly appreciative that Florida Trend has chosen me for inclusion,” said DeFoor. “Conservation in Florida is so important; it is now or never. The greatest threat to conservation in Florida is the rapid and inexorable growth of our state. In two generations, we have grown from smaller than Mississippi to larger than New York. It is now or never to conserve what we can. I am proud of our accomplishments and look forward to continuing our work to protect Florida’s natural spaces.”
