Local Celebrities Perform at Lip Sync for Lungs to fund research

On May 10, the American Lung Association in Jacksonville hosted its second annual Lip Sync For Lungs at UNF Andrew A. Robinson Theater. Lip Sync for Lungs is a new fundraising event that featured local celebrity performers in the battle for “Lip Sync for Lungs Battle Champion.”

Over 200 attendees enjoyed an evening of hors d’oeuvres, drinks, a silent auction and lip sync performances put on by local celebrity contestants. Special guests Dr. Kathryn Blake from Nemours Children’s Specialty Care and Kate W., a Nemours pediatric research participant, spoke about local asthma research. The event raised over $59,000 to support vital lung health research, provide asthma education programs for local youth and fund lung cancer research.

Josh McCarty (The CSI Companies) was the winner raising $8,642. Josh performed to “I Like It” by Cardi B, “Wannabe” by Spice Girls, “Single Ladies” by Beyonce, and “Money” by Cardi B.

Other celebrity performers were Kim Knapp (Coldwell Banker Vanguard), Karen Nutter (CBK Coaching) and Carissa Vaughn (Phi Eco Salon).

Rance Adams emceed the event along with Lindsey Boetsch, Jessica Morgan and John Scott who were judges.
