NexGen Foundation volunteers beautify San Jose Elementary

More than 60 volunteers spent their Saturday morning sprucing up San Jose Elementary during NexGen Foundation’s second annual volunteer work day at the school July 20.

Beautification efforts included weeding plant beds, painting new picnic tables, hanging banners in the cafeteria associated with the school’s “houses” and more.

“I think it’s critical that community members and business partnerships wrap around schools in their neighborhood to contribute, whether it’s these acts of service that will bring so much joy to a school community,” said San Jose Elementary School Principal Jasmin Esparza Gomez.

Event organizer and NexGen Restoration and Roofing Operations Manager Emily Uruburu said the turnout for the event was gratifying.

“It’s amazing just to have the community want to be here and want to give back to the kids in the school,” she said.
