Commodore’s League gets banner day to showcase St. Johns River
The Jacksonville Commodore’s League is steadily cruising into 2026, as it celebrates its 50th year of yachting excellence. Its membership acted as ambassadors for a recent gathering of the Colonial Dames of North America, as its national leadership took advantage of a curated voyage through Downtown Jacksonville, April 29.
By courting dignitaries, business groups and other potential investors discovering North Florida, a cruise down the St. Johns River by yacht makes every outing unforgettable. Many parties discover the majesty of the St. Johns River for the first time. Guests are often amazed by the grandeur of Downtown, as the skyline and subsequent neighborhoods lining the riverbanks showcase the City’s finer points.
The Club’s latest cruise entertained a group of more than 20-guests, who work to preserve American heritage through education, historic preservation and patriotic service all while celebrating lineage to ancestry of individuals who resided in an American colony before 1776.
Learning some maritime history along the way, the group embarked on the journey Downtown via the Conch Chelle, a 62-foot Grand Banks trawler-style motor yacht, casting off at the Florida Yacht Club and returning from the loop down river to Arlington nearby the Jacksonville University Campus. It was a fitting journey for an American heritage preservation group, as they made way down one of America’s Heritage Rivers.
