Christmas in Avondale, a time-honored holiday tradition, returned to The Shoppes of Avondale on Friday, Dec. 5.

Families and friends filled St. Johns Avenue in the merchant corridor, enjoying live music, food and drink, venturing into stores that extended their hours for the evening, and even getting some holiday shopping done at the same time. Children enjoyed face painting, hot chocolate and even a visit from Santa Claus.

Historic Avondale has hosted this beloved community event for more than 30 years, and each year, the community fills the street, reminding the merchants association just how cherished it truly is.
