Summer may have been in full swing outside, but within the walls of Wolfson Children’s Hospital, July had a decidedly more festive flair last month as the hospital celebrated Christmas in July.

This annual toy and donation drive, presented by Subaru of Jacksonville, returns every summer for the full month of July to spark some holiday magic for young patients undergoing treatments at Wolfson. Community members helped deliver that joy multiple ways, from purchasing items off the Wolfson Children’s Hospital Christmas in July Amazon wish list, which featured a broad assortment of toys, arts and craft supplies and more, to making a financial contribution online to dropping off new, unwrapped toys or gift cards at Subaru of Jacksonville for delivery and distribution.

Toys have a deeper impact beyond playtime at Wolfson, playing a crucial role in the healing process as well for children. Toys inject a sense of normalcy and bring comfort during abnormal times for children, and help younger patients – infants and toddlers, in particular – achieve important developmental milestones.
